This was our third year fishing with Captain Jay, and somehow each trip keeps getting better than the last. My son and I caught an impressive variety of fish, including snook, snapper, catfish, and several others. We even managed to hook a tree or two for good measure. But as great as the fishing was, the experience is about so much more than what's on the line. The laughs, good-natured ribbing, stories, and camaraderie made every minute on the water memorable. Jay has a way of making everyone feel comfortable while sharing his knowledge, passion, and genuine love for the area. In my original review, I mentioned that we had hoped to do a sightseeing trip that never worked out. This year, my wife was finally able to join us, and it ended up being everything we had hoped for. She got to see dolphins in the wild, learned about the local ecosystem from Jay while I was once again trying to rescue my bait from a mangrove, and—best of all—she got to see the enormous smile on our son's face every time he brought in another fish. This trip was my son's graduation gift, and it couldn't have been a better way to celebrate. The memories we made together will last a lifetime. There's a reason Salty Native Charters was voted Best Fishing Charter in Cape Coral. The fishing is fantastic, but what truly sets it apart is Captain Jay himself. His knowledge, personality, and dedication to making every trip special keep us coming back year after year. Thanks again for another unforgettable day on the water, Jay. We'll see you next year. Stay salty! ___ 2024: The last two days have been nothing short of amazing! For his 16th birthday, my son wanted to catch a slew of different fish and have fun doing it. Captain Jay provided that and so much more. We originally booked for two days: one fishing, one sight-seeing, but due to back problems the sight-seeing trip didn’t happen. Captain Jay shifted plans on the fly and took our son out for a second day of fishing instead! Communication leading up to the trip was great, directions and instruction were spot-on, and his knowledge of the area and where to fish was terrific. More than once our kiddo has said that this has been the “best trip ever”. In the end, we caught Barracuda, Snapper, Snook, and more. Our son’s already planning our trip next year, and a trip with Salty Native is definitely on the agenda!

Booked a half-day inshore fishing trip with Salty Native Charters yesterday (April 4). Captain Jay (Jay-Rod) showed himself to be intimately knowledgeable about fishing and navigating the waters around Cape Coral, expert on the impact of tides and other environmental factors affecting fish behavior, and generally knowledgeable about key points of interest in the area. We caught several of each of the inshore big three, big sea trout, some snook and redfish, including my personal best. His boat was immaculate and the gear he provided, first class. A friend from Arizona who was with me also landed his first ever snook. We had such a great time. Captain Jay provides EVERYTHING you need for the experience. He also expertly processes your catch, with speed and skill. Fishing with Salty Native will make you a better fisherman in general—so much to learn from a life-long master angler. Folks, you can’t go wrong with Salty Native. If you do your homework, you’ll see that he is very competitively priced. Book early—he’s very popular!

Captain Jay was amazing!! Conditions were not ideal to catch fish and yet we caught 7 different species and so many fish. We also saw a bunch of manatees and dolphins. Jay was as excited about the fishing as we were. I could not have asked for a better day! If you’re looking to fish, this trip was seriously amazing. My kids also loved it.

We had a great time with Captain Jay! We went on a full day trip with 4 kiddos ages 13-6 and they were never bored! Captain Jay did a great job keep their interest and answering all 500 of my sons questions. 😉 All 4 kids said it was the best boat trip they have ever gone on and the most fish they have caught!

Did a half day trip and had a complete blast. I wasn’t after quantity but quality and Captain Jay did exactly that. Caught 2 of the largest sea trout I’ve ever caught , caught some snook which I had never caught before, and a keeper redfish. Captain Jay’s equipment is top notch and well taken care of. His knowledge of the area was extensive and it paid off. I will definitely fish with Captain Jay again and I highly recommend you book with him if you plan on fishing in the Cape Coral area.. THANKS CAPTAIN !!!
