Having visited many times and had the chance to try a variety of dishes, I’ve decided to rewrite my review today, June 18, 2026. The food at Mercato Italiano is excellent, and the quality is consistently high. For breakfast, my go-to order is a double-shot caffè latte with a classic croissant. For lunch, I enjoy the Caprese salad (mozzarella, tomato, basil, olive oil) paired with a slice of Sicilian pizza or one of the paninis, either the Milan or the Naples (the former features prosciutto, tomato, mozzarella, and basil, while the latter is strictly vegetarian, with mozzarella, tomato, basil, and olive oil). For dinner, I’d recommend the Alessandro pizza. If I’m in the mood for something sweet, I love the biscotti, especially the Nono Paolo, made with almonds, or sharing a sfogliatella, which is a type of mille-feuille pastry. There have been some changes in the service staff, but Carla, Jiusi, Anna, Massimo, and Martina are all incredibly kind, considerate, and efficient; they provide excellent service and make fantastic lattes and espressos. Massimo is the epitome of professionalism and great service. The chef and owner, Valerio di Falco, often stops by the tables to make sure everything is to our liking. Valerio is always very friendly and offers great recommendations for lunch or dinner. By the way, he makes delicious pasta dishes (I like the one with meatballs.) While it’s normal for any restaurant to have its ups and downs, after three years, I can say with 100% certainty that the food and service at Mercato Italiano remain consistently high-quality. Valerio is opening a pizzeria next door, so I’m sure that will become my favorite spot for dinner.

You can taste the quality in every sip. It had that true Italian profile, bold but never bitter, and it set the tone for everything that followed. Now the food. I ordered a croissant sandwich, and it was nothing short of exceptional. The croissant itself was fresh out of the oven, light, flaky, and buttery in all the right ways. Inside, I had two sunny-side-up eggs cooked just right, paired with prosciutto, bacon, and ham. The combination of flavors was incredible. Every bite gave you a perfect mix of savory, rich, and slightly salty notes, all brought together by that warm, delicate croissant. What really stood out was the presentation. This was not just a sandwich thrown on a plate. It was carefully arranged on a platter, clean, inviting, and done with pride. You can tell they care about every detail. The atmosphere completes the experience. The energy inside is welcoming, relaxed, and full of character. It feels like a place where people come not just to eat, but to slow down, connect, and enjoy the moment. Whether you are stopping in for a quick espresso or sitting down for a full breakfast, the environment makes you want to stay. The experience was outstanding along with the service that made you feel like Family. If you are anywhere near Naples, this is a must-visit. Mercato Italiano delivers on flavor, presentation, and experience at the highest level. This is easily a 5-plus star spot, and a place I will return to again without hesitation.

If you're looking to indulge in authentic Italian cuisine, this establishment is highly recommended. I ordered the Alessandro pizza, which was exceptional, and the affogato coffee marvelous; everything else was delicious. Carla our server was exceptionally good attentive

Okay this is my new favorite place in Naples incredible pastries amazing food and then they sell all sorts of authentic Italian goods cheeses jams sauces pasta wine olive oil it is absolutely amazing. Come for a coffee come for lunch come for a dessert and be sure to try the very unique Italian beers that you won't find anywhere else.

The ravioli were absolutely delicious — perfectly balanced in flavor, very tender, and the dough was soft and delicate. You can really taste the quality. The pistachio dessert was incredible — it literally melts in your mouth. It’s not overly sweet, with a light crispy crust that makes every bite pure bliss
