We were told to be there 15 minutes early. We did exactly that. The ferry then ended up being 10 minutes late, so we ended up waiting for 25 minutes with three small children. At least there were sunshades in the waiting area. The next day: My wife, my mother-in-law, my 4-year-old daughter, and our 7-month-old baby arrived 5 minutes before the scheduled departure time. I arrived right at the departure time due to a screaming fit our 3-year-old was having. The ferry was already boarding passengers, the rest of my family (including the 7-month-old baby) had to wait for us in the blazing sun next to the pier because the skipper refused to let them board until all six of us were present. I arrived, my wife pointed toward us, and asked the skipper if we could board now. The skipper replied gruffly: "No, you have to keep waiting until everyone else is on board." My wife—somewhat exasperated by the screaming baby—responded a bit more firmly, pointing out that waiting 10 minute in the sun like this isn't good for the baby. The skipper—who was clearly having a bad day—shot back irritably: "If you don't calm down, you won't be allowed on board." My wife glared at me in frustration: "This is all because of you guys!" Skipper: "You stay here." He declared that he didn't have to put up with being insulted. No amount of explaining or pleading helped... The result: three crying children who were robbed of their second—and, since we are flying home tomorrow, their *final*—day at the beach for what will likely be at least a year. Sorry, but that is not service; that has nothing to do with safety; it is simply an abuse of power over others. Fortunately, the hotel staff witnessed the whole thing, apologized to us, and waived the fees for our entire stay. (These fees are what cover the cost of the external ferry operator and the boat itself.)
